Feeling creative?

I need help! My parents gave me this great thing to put on Zoodle's wall.

Photobucket

It is dark brown iron(?) and has four hooks to hang coats or hats from. The whole piece is probably close to a meter long.

I need advice, folks--I want an idea of some cute things I can hang off these hooks! If you need a reminder of the other things I've done to the nursery, check out these posts.

The Engineer suggested a small cowboy hat and duster (longish cowboy coat.) Great idea, but while the hat might be doable, toddler-sized dusters aren't exactly common (and probably wouldn't be affordable!) So bring it on--give me some great ideas for these hooks! (By the way, his name is not four letters long.)

Thanks in advance!

A small pair of cowboy boots? A horseshoe? A lasso?

A horseshoe on the two end hooks and his initials in between? I think I am stuck on the horseshoes.

Wow...so many choices. You could do a gun belt with pop guns (or water guns). There are always metal stars, western pictures of zoodle or the family. You know those pictures where it looks like you are in a saloon and it is done in sepia. If you don't have a duster, you could hang western style shirts.

I think anything you find that has an old or western feel to it would look cute. Or you could just leave it empty and use it for towels and pjs. Kate's always get tossed in the rocking chair. :) I like the rockin 'E' on the wall. Cute idea.

Maybe a pair of jean with a cowboy belt & buckle, lasso, cowboy shirt... I'm sure what ever you decide to use it will look great. Can't wait to see.

add more hooks and then spell his name

I love the idea of a sepia-toned pic, maybe of Zoodle in a western shirt/hat? Then you could hang the shirt and hat on a couple of hooks. I also like the idea of a length of rugged rope. You might be able to find some inexpensive chaps or spurs which would also be cute. Or you could hang a little quilt or banner - doesn't have to be fancy or complex.

LOVE that piece though. Really awesome find.

You could do the letters of his name, one in each section. Tie ribbons/string to the letters and tie them around the two ends and then hang from the 4 hooks (if I'm remembering the number of letters in his name correctly). My first thought was a cowboy hat, a lasso and a bandana.

Cowboy hat, gun holster (no guns), and a lasso or bandana.... that's what I'd put on there.

a RED bandana! a fake gun and some spurs! that is TOO cute! I LOVE his room now!!!!

I was thinking instead of his real name, since you have the E on the wall already, you could incorporate Zoodle into the room (if you actually call him that or like it enough to incorporate it) since it is 6 letters. :)

P.S. My word verification was houndomm... sounds a bit like "how dumb" so yah, my idea very well could be LoL

Bri said...

ooh, oooh, cowboy is 6 letters too. Sorry, I'm stuck on letters LoL

Word verification was "gedam" this time, take what you want from that LoL

why do you all keep saying fake guns, give him real ones with the FP removed

much more fun

(or paintball guns/bbguns/nerf)

You could still do his name but just affix the letters to the vertical bars themselves instead of actually inside the squares. Still leaves some room for hanging items too, which is very attractive to me in the sense of ease . . .

By the way, I LOVE his room & all you've done with it -- it is very "grow-worthy" too, you know? Like he'll be able to have it for years & years since it has such a great boy flavor instead of baby or neutral.

I definitely think some "cowboy" clothes are in order. I absolutely love the western room decor!

Thanks for answering my immediate thought when I saw it (wonder if his name has 4 letters). I work around horses quite a bit, so if he has any in his room, you could hang a feed bucket w/hay in it, cowboy hat, saddle and some rope on there. Pictures w/the cowboy theme could be hung f/the hooks as well. You seem like a very creative person, so whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it will look great!

jeans, bandanas, spurs, lasso, cowboy shirt, horseshoes, saddle-blanket, wanted sign, hat, belt with a big buckle, holster, that's all I've got, but I look forward to the results. The rest of his room is adorable!

A lasso and a tin star. I like the cowboy hat...barbed wire probably isn't practical, huh? I have seen Christmas stockings in the shape of cowboy boots. Perhaps something soft like that might work. Great ideas!
Enjoy the day!

Going off Call Me Cate's idea, maybe you could hang a picture frame off each one with a sepia-toned pic (cowboy themed stuff or family). That way, it's not empty looking and you can still use it for other stuff (e.g. net bag of stuffed animals).

And to keep it 1-year-old friendly, print the photos and mount them to foam board - no wooden frame or glass to worry about.

Good luck! The room is coming along great!

What a fun hanger! I think most the ideas above sorta stole my own, what more can I say?

But...if it were me I would probably either not hang anything decorative and put it to practical use or only use ONE hook for a decorative item to add flavor, then the others can be put to use for hanging things in the room that need to be hung... like a baby towel, pjs, kid hats, whatever else. :)

lol...since others shared their word verification...mine is floyerse...sounds like flowers with some strange western accent... so there you go for another idea. :)

Zoodle's name isnt four letters long but there are four of you guys. one letter for each of you?

TT said there are Christmas stockings that look like cowboy boots. When I read that, my first thought was that one or more of those could be stuffed and sewn shut to make pillows!

As for the hooks, I think I would hang a bandana, a cowboy hat, a gun belt and a sepia-toned picture, maybe of the four of you or of horses.

I do know Zoodle's real name; and there are 6 spaces. If you want to do his real name or even cowboy, you could tie rope to the ends under the stars and then around the posts. Though, I love the ideas of hanging a bandanna and a cowboy hat on it too.

I don't know if your actually planning on using these hooks daily but you could put a kid sized cowboy hat on one of the hooks, a cowboy themed towel on another (one he'd actually use after a bath), some cowboy dress up clothes on the next hook and last a lasso. Leaning on the wall beside the hooks you could put a old fashioned horse on a stick thing (sorry I don't know what they are called)- the one you can pretend to ride around on while holding the stick. Obviously this is something he would have to grow into, as well as the cowboy dress up clothes. Hope this makes sense!

Y'all are SOOOOO GREAT! Wow, there are some fantastic ideas here. I don't know which I will use but I think I have a great problem--too many good ideas!

I knew I could count on you but didn't know I'd get so much input! Thank you!

To clear up one thing--there are only 4 hooks, not 6. The two on the outside aren't curved like hooks--you can't tell in that pic.

First thing I thought of was 4 stuffed animals- like 3 horses and a cowboy. WE used to tie ribbon around the necks of our animals to hang them better, you could maybe use the rope. Then again, you might not want to make it look like they were dangling! Good luck!

Julie - It's simply called a stick pony :) my two oldest got them for Christmas when my husband was deployed from our gift sponsor that sent gifts "from daddy"

Beth - I was referring to using the bottom bar between the first and last openings to hang a letter from and then the hooks in the middle for the other 4 letters.

Hey Beth! I haven't read through the other comments, but I'm picturing toddler and child sized cowboy boots, which can be found for really cheap! Buy two pairs of boots and four bandannas. String a bandanna through the pull up tab on the back of the boot or poke a hole in the back. Tie the ends of the bandanna in a square not and use that as the "ribbon" to hang the boots. Hang them at different lengths so you have some height variation.
