I feel so (sniff, sniff) SPECIAL!!!

I just got a phone call from our U.S. Senator who is up for reelection. I got one from his wife the other day. Of course, the messages were recorded...but both times I was greeted by name. It's interesting to hear a recorded message say, "Hello, Smith family!" And I'm not talking some sort of computer generated voice. It didn't even sound like "Smith" was inserted in the sentence; it sounded like Mr. and Mrs. Senator had actually taken the time to record all three words in sequence. "Hello, Smith family!"

Now, our last name isn't Smith, but we do have a very common surname. I'm thinking maybe they just did recordings with, say, the 100 most common surnames in the state, and used a general, unpersonalized message for the rest of our state residents unlucky enough to have unique last names.

Have you experienced this? And if so, is your last name common or uncommon? Are you a Smith or a Wiggenbottom?

Nope no calls here. But then again I have only a cellphone. Our last name is pretty common though, suprisingly enough.

Interesting! We have not gotten any calls like that. Our last name is fairly common - not as common as Smith, but not unheard-of, either.

We've gotten several recorded phone calls over the last couple weeks...none personalized. :( Although, I found it funny to say to my husband, "oh, Sarah Palin left you a voicemail."

Hmm, maybe it's just something this particular Senator is doing. I wonder if it'll be all the rage 4 years from now?

Once I got a call from our governator "Arnold" when he was running for office...I was hoping he would say "I'll be back..", but nope he didn't.:)

Yes, and personalized as well, but I donated to the campaign, so that may be why. My last name isn't all that common.

Mary--Hee hee! That would have been funny.

Brave Sir Robin--We're actually in the same state...no donations here though. If yours was from the senatorial candidate too he must have recorded a LOT of names.

Yes, we keep getting messages too...except they say husband's first name.

D--Oh, that's very interesting. Hmm--I wonder why I'm getting last name and you're getting first?
