Whatcha readin'?

You've seen that I have a pretty long blog roll (in the right hand column of this page.) And it probably doesn't need to be any longer. But I do enjoy venturing out into the blogosphere to see what else is out there.

I'd love it if you'd comment today, leaving a link to a blog that you enjoy reading--one that isn't on my blog roll. "Sell it" to us--let me and the other readers know why we might enjoy your recommendation. Feel free to link to your own blog--but please list one that's not yours, too!

Looking forward to the responses. Thanks in advance!

I read a blog called RaisingFive. She's a christian mom of five kids who just blogs about her life experiences and thoughts on life. I feel like I'm getting wisdom from a mom like me that's been there before.

Diane's Addled Ramblings - full of wisdom and experience, as she struggles like all of us to be the best possible parent to her daughter, Ryan, a couple of stages up from Chickie and Zoodle. Diane is an American (but raised in Scotland) treasure!

I very much appreciate the journey that Joanna is on as she and her husband are TTC having been there myself. She writes with an openness and honesty that is inspiring.

Thanks for the attaboy, Heather.

I get a kick out of The Pioneer Woman. Four kids, horse ranch, great recipes, photography, and my sense of humor. I like to read blogs of people I wish I could hang out with!

Beth, I think you'd really enjoy Mary Murtz's blog here. She is a REALLY good writer. You'll laugh out loud as often as you cry. You'll LOVE it.

One of the blogs I enjoy reading the most is Crazy Aunt Purl.
www.crazyauntpurl.com

To quote her website it is "The true-life diary of a thirty-something, newly divorced, displaced Southern obsessive-complulsive knitter who has four cats."

I love her writing style. She is very witty and funny. She covers such a variety of topics, you never know what her next post is going to be about. What I like most about her blog, is her honesty and she always makes me laugh.

Hilary writes one of my favorites http://thesmittenimage.blogspot.com/

Hilary lives in Ontario, Canada and takes the most beautiful pictures, as well as writes beautiful, thought-provoking words to go with them.

When I think of Hilary, I think of an artistic, gentle soul. She and her blog are like a wonderful, tasty scone and a cup of hot tea, only made out of words.

This is a great idea! One of my favorite blogs is http://www.cheriblocksabraw.com/. She is a fabulous storyteller. Many of her stories make me laugh out loud and usually stir up a memory of some sort. She also writes with a rhythm that really brings the scenes to life.

I love the Woman from the North's blog...she cracks me up! She's in the UK, living out in the middle of nowhere...I really enjoy her antics and language!

I love, 'All from the Land of Ahhs'
(allfromthelandofahhs.blogspot.com)
She's sweet, sincere, honest, and funny. Anyone is better for reading her blog.

I have so many...but a new one that I just discovered is www.mattlogelin.com. His story is heartbreaking - his wife died of a blood clot the day after giving birth to their daughter, so he's a single father. He's also a great photographer and posts a lot of pictures on his blog. (However, a warning: If you start from the beginning of the archives, it's a really difficult read - his pain in the first few months was so incredibly intense.)

Well other than my own blog In the Mind of a Thirtysomething Mom, my favorite blog to read is Bring the Rain.

It's written by the wife of one of the members of Selah (a Christian singing group), and it tells of the story of the birth and subsequent death of their daughter Audrey. Angie now shares how they're continuing on with their life and various Bible related postings.

It's a great read.

My most recent discovery:

This lady moved to London at the age of 74 and is blogging her experiences. She only has three followers on her Englihs-language blog at the moment but her words & photos are well worth a visit!

Check out SouleMama ( http://www.soulemama.com/soulemama/ ).

She's a mother of four, living in Maine. The photography is fabulous and there are always a bunch of ideas about creative hobbies. There is a post just about every day (which I really appreciate) and often a giveaway on the weekends.

Children's Book Reviews and Then Some

Every time I look at her site, I add to my list of books to request at the library. The ones for older kids I check out for myself because they are such fun, quick reads. Some of her suggestions for picture books have become some of my son's favorites. The in-between ones make good read-aloud books for him at bedtime, too.

It was a random find, but I usually get a giggle out of The Spiteful Chef. She's engaged and in culinary school. Her posts are usually about the mouthwatering things she makes, and she is FUNNY (if a bit bitter and foul-mouthed!). She reminds me of a culinary Dooce :-)

I have three blogs for you.
#1 has at least one new post every day. They are a guaranteed laugh (often with tears) and they take less than a minute to read. You will never be sorry you took the time to look at http://www.lovelylisting.blogspot.com.

#2 is a blog that focuses on a different woman from scripture each week. It's a great reminder that women hold a high and honored place in God's plan. Find it at http://www.womeninthescriptures.blogspot.com/

#3 is a mix of humor, being a mom, being a bit of a geek... it's all in the title at Geek Mom Mashup. Go to http://www.geekmommashup.com

I love Soule Mama too! She inspires me in a lot of ways and her pictures are always gorgeous.

Another blog I enjoy is called A Thousand Words, which is written by a mom of two boys living in England (raised in South Africa, I think). She posts a lot about home improvement, decorating, organization, thrift, etc. She has so many great ideas! She also has a blog (mostly pictures) called Inspiration for Decoration.

WOW, that's a ton of great suggestions! Thank you, everyone! I'll start checking these out soon, and I'll probably list links to all of them in a future blog post.

Thank you all again!

I know I'm very late for this post. But here is one of my top faves from my blog roll. (http://www.sarakastic.blogspot.com/) Sarakastic is one of my Awesome Blogger Chicks and her posts regularly make me laugh out loud. When I'm short on time, hers is one that I always hit.
