Magic bins

Surface clutter (on countertops, tables, etc.) stresses me out.

Coincidentally, I tend to build up a lot of surface clutter.

In other words, I'm frequently stressed out!

So last Friday, I decided it was time to declutter in my kitchen and dining room. The countertops, kitchen bar, table, and sidebar had gotten really cluttered. But it had been a busy week, and I knew I probably didn't have time to really sort through everything with the time I had available Friday afternoon.

Enter...the magic bins.

I grabbed a big ol' Rubbermaid storage bin from the garage and filled it up.

When it was full, I started on another.

I set them in the dining room. I barely started sorting all the stuff on Friday, and I finished yesterday afernoon.

The cool thing about my magic bins is that they themselves aren't very stressful to me. So this weekend I was able to relax, with the bar between my kitchen and living room beautifully clear of junk. I even put the flowers Chickie picked me (thanks to the ridiculous number of weeds this year) into a vase.

Thanks, magic bins, for making an onerous task feel doable.

Don't you just love it when any part of the house is clean and organized? I do, but that hasn't happened to me in a while thanks to toys and husband clutter. Perhaps it is time for a bin!

We often use bins when the clutter becomes too much. I'm really bad about going back and sorting through them. Maybe you've inspired me to dig out the last bin I created- when I got rid of my Hyundai Sonata and got my minivan back in October!!

One thing we do- supposedly, I'm better at this than my husband- is if a bin sits untended for a year, it gets tossed.

Clutter stresses me out too. I pile it up on the desk in the spare room and then close the door. Voila! No stress!

I like your 'magic bin' idea!

I need to do some bin action of my own. But first, I need to find my bins.

That's just beautiful. I love the weeds in the vase. My kids are always giving me flowers. Sometimes they end up shriveled litte piles on the porch but sometimes I put them in a vase. So much more special that way. I love cleaning up clutter too. Good idea.

I have a magic bin to quickly put things into when unexpected company stops by. As their car is coming down the drive I can clean sweep a room in seconds, throw the bin in the spare room, and slam the door shut with no one the wiser. The empty dishwasher makes a good emergency bin also.

That is a fantastic idea! I have the same problem (counter clutter stresses me out, yet I seem to always have it!) Out of sight, out of mind. Only my prob. would be emptying the bins!;)
