My artist

"Mommy," Chickie called to me yesterday, "how do you spell 'elephant'?" I spelled it for her slowly, and she followed it up with another question. "And how do you spell 'heart'?"

Later, I found this:

Photobucket

(If this isn't the work of a four-year-old genius...don't tell me, okay? It's my job to believe that her talent is incredible!)

(Oh, and I don't know what significance "LFU" holds. The Engineer has a theory that she was trying on her own to spell "elephant." Further evidence of brilliance. Or at least evidence of parental bias!)

Adorable. And impressive that she knows her letters so well! I agree that LFU was probably an attempt at elephant - unless she meant "Least Frequently Used" because that elephant is new.

Definite brilliance!

I have to say that one thing I love about art is the looking back and seeing the development and growth. Looking at photos of my kids from a year ago is one thing... looking at art from a year ago is another!

The first think to pop to mind when I saw the LFU was "love you" with the V pronounced as a F. However, it does make more sense that it was an attempt at spelling elephant (Lfunt). If that is the way she is going I have to say I like lfunt as a spelling better.

Wow, very impressive! I agree with everyone else that she was trying to spell "elephant" on her own. What a smartie she is!
