I am so embarrassed writing this post.

When I found out I was pregnant with a boy, I started planning an adorable cowboy-themed nursery.  I thought about the cute window valance and crib skirt I'd make.  I got cowboy-themed gifts.  My mom made an awesome quilt that will eventually fit his big boy bed.

Soon after Zoodle was born, we bought a big girl bed for Chickie.  She'd been sleeping in a daybed (converted from her crib), and we knew we'd need to put the crib in Zoodle's room once he graduated from the bassinet.

Great plans.  So why on earth is this the room he's been sleeping in?Photobucket

Oh, my goodness, this is so embarrassing.  I mean, I'm not really much of a home decorating type but it's really unconscionable that my baby has been sleeping in a room we're using as a storage area.  That we've never set up Chickie's big girl bed, and therefore Zoodle snoozes in a Pack 'n' Play.

So I'm trying to get his nursery decorated before he officially exits infanthood on March 29, his first birthday.  (Or at least half done by then!)

A couple of days ago I cleared all the junk out of the room.  It took less than an hour, and the place is already improved.

Now I'm working on a valance for his window, and soon The Engineer will be setting up Chickie's full-sized bed and moving the crib into Zoodle's room.  I have more cute, cowboy-themed plans that shouldn't be too difficult or time-consuming.

Just don't tell Martha Stewart that my baby's nursery is being decorated a year late!

Oh please update us again with the cowboy-themed room. I'd love to see how it all turns out! Should be fun for adorable Zoodle.

I am so glad I am not the only one who "doesn't get around to" certain things. I have been "working" on a Kate's scrapbook for 16 months. (That is how old she is.) Well, good luck on the cowboy theme.

Beth,
Don't be embarrassed...you are in good company...probably 80% of the people reading your post have stories similar...good intentions are always interrupted by life!

I'm sure he won't be scarred for life that his nursery wasn't done until he was 1. ;-) I'm sure it will be adorable when it's done!

Your post makes me feel better, because I've been a bit depressed lately about all of the "good intention projects" I'm way behind schedule on.

Also, I am so enjoying the "Margin" book - it's really hitting home. I'm glad you mentioned it on your dad's blog and thanks for emailing me the link. It's funny how things find their way into our lives just when we need them most. :)

I'm sure his room will be awesome when it's done. And he won't remember sleeping in a pack-n-play. I'm sure he doesn't care. At least he has a roof over his head, 3 meals a day, and parents who adore him. What else could you want from life?!

You are not alone. My nephew will be 1 in April. At this point, they're "almost" ready to finish dry-walling the nursery. So even if Zoodle's room wasn't perfectly accessorized, at least he had his own space somewhere!

Oh my... I giggled the whole time I was reading this post. Thank you so much for that laugh! And I'm not laughing AT you... I'm laughing WITH you. You are laughing, right?

I do see Zoodle has a rocking horse in both bedroom shots! At least he's been having fun in his unfinished room. I hope so! :)

Oh Beth please.....Daniel is 3 and I still have not put a single picture in his baby book! :) They are all hanging-out in an un-organized photo box instead.
Mommy of the Year, I am NOT!

C. Beth - I agree with all of those things people have already said! We all have our projects - Mine is the entire house, and we've only lived here almost 7 years already!

Congrats on achieving so much in the little one's room, and good luck with the rest. You have beautiful children who are adored, protected, entertained, and you're already working very hard to educate them and bring them up so well... Don't be too hard on yourself. Have a great weekend!

Oh this is absolutely true of too many things around here!

A cowboy room sounds adorable. I hope you'll post about the projects you are doing for it!

No need to feel embarrassed...like one of the previous commenters said, I'm sure most of the people reading this post are in the same boat.

Peanut's room has a wonderful "thrown together" look. Yep...that's what I tell myself anyway. :)

Ok, when you're done with Zoodle's room, you can come help me fill all the gaps in my house that have been here since 2007.
