Oh...there you are.

I was reading my friend Janell's blog the other day, in which she confessed to some scatterbrained tendencies. (Janell is honest enough to use the "scatterbrained" term. Most of us chalk up our forgetfulness to "Mommy brain," which is really just the excuse we use when we're too young for "senior moments.") Her stories reminded me of an incident from Zoodle's infancy.

We were at a church event. Zoodle had been passed from person to person. Suddenly I realized that the last person I remembered seeing him with had left, and I didn't know where he was.

"Where's Zoodle?" I asked The Engineer in an anxious voice.

He gave me that look--you know, the one that requires no words to say, "Have you totally gone off your rocker?"

And I realized Zoodle was very close to me.

On my lap.

Breastfeeding.

Hahahahaha! I laugh because I totally understand. I've definitely spent a very long time looking up and down my house only to find them in my hands in the end.

What a fabulous morning laugh! :) God love you...and just so you know, I'm going to steal your definition of "mommy brain" (fully credited, of course).

Ha!! I just did this for the first time the other day (this specific thing...I'm scatterbrained half the time lol)....I went looking for someone who had been sitting right next to me the whole time!!

Oh that makes me feel so much better! The problem I'm encountering though is that my "baby" is 8 and I've noticed no improvement in the memory department.

Glad I found your blog!

That's hilarious! My husband does that with his sunglasses all the time - spends 15 minutes looking for them when I finally point out that they're on top of his head. I know, I should tell him sooner but it's hilarious. And as often as he does that, you'd think that would be the first place he'd check.

He can't blame "mommy brain", either.

LOL Beth! I know the exact look you're talking about, the one the Engineer gave you. I've definitely seen it on Mr. J's face on numerous occasions! I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I think the fact that so many moms can relate to this just goes to show that we moms have a LOT of things to juggle in our heads. It's no wonder we have "mommy brain"!

BTW, thanks for the link. :)

Yes, that's somehow worse than sunglasses on top of my head though I do that sort of thing far too often. Just, you have a better excuse I guess.

Love it. It reminds me of the times I have looked all over for my glasses, and then found them -- on top of my head!

LOL. This reminds me of my own "senior moment" - I think I'll write about it. But I'm blaming pregnancy!

That's a great story! When Anthony was teeny tiny, I was nursing him in bed in the middle of the night while reading a book. All of the sudden I looked up from my book and realized that I heard deep breathing very close by. I was terrified and imagined that some sort of boogeyman was under the bed...then I noticed, of course, that Anthony had fallen alseep on my breast. He's way too cute to be a scary boogeyman!
