Monday (uh, Tuesday) Micro: Goodbye

We've had a great several days with my parents here. They are leaving this morning.

Despite Chickie informing my mom that she will be coming on the plane with them, I'm having to face the harsh truth: Once again, I've got to be a real mom of two, withut grandparents here to babysit, help with cooking, and even change occasional diapers.

I'm so incredibly blessed to have parents who are great company for The Engineer and me, and who adore their grandchildren. I'll miss you guys. Thanks for the great visit.

Aw!! Those goodbyes are so hard! I remember being about 7 years old and crying my eyes out when my grandparents left after a visit... totally heartbroken. And now, I get to watch my parents (well, mostly my mom) forming this special relationship with my kids. And Jeff gets to see his parents forming a special relationship... I love seeing our parents in ways we didn't know about.

I love watching my boys with my parents and Mike's mom too. The kids are forming such special memories!

I know how that is...I love when my mom comes to my house for a while. Suddenly everything is cleaner and kept better. I just don't do it all like she does. :)

Lovely. Having just spent some time with my family, including a little one, this touched me.

I didn't have grandparents to want to go home with, but I did have a really fun aunt and uncle. They came only once a year to visit. One year I told them I was going home with them. However, I was promptly informed that I could not go. So, I did what any self-respecting 8 year old would do...I ran away from home. I didn't get any farther than the neighbors but I think I made my point.

Liz--It really is cool watching those relationships form, isn't it?

Steph--I am SO glad my parents are putting the time in to build those memories!

Dani--I can see the benefits of the old-style communal living, can't you?

Cate--I'm glad! I bet you miss little Collin.

2cats--Ha! Glad you didn't get too far on your trek away from home. :)

Grandparents simply put are the best. I no longer have my mother but I love watching my father be such wonderful grandfather to my daughter. I'm lucky, he is a great Dad as well.

Yes, I think it's wonderful that you and The Engineer enjoy having your parents visit ALMOST as much as, I'm guessing, Chickie and Zoodle do!
