Legos blocks come in all sizes. Some pieces have one or two posts; they can only connect to one or two other blocks. Some Legos have enough posts to connect with dozens of other blocks.
People are like Legos. We're all made differently. Some of us can connect deeply with only one or two others in friendship; some can have close friendships with many people. Find out what type of Lego you are. And don't feel like you have to change it.

I'll have to think this over, me. I tend to be very friendly with everyone, sharing myself isn't difficult but..BUT...there are very few that I have a connection with...so few! And I get weary with long conversations...better with short and sweets. Writing, however, well that's another story that could take me an entire page.

So...with that description, I suppose I'd be one of those rare lego's that you always need for whatever you're making, but because I'm rare...I don't stay long in one making. Which one would that be? hmmmmm
I LOVE that analogy. I wrote a couple of rambling posts earlier in the year about the way we can misunderstand others' views on friendship and you've summed it all up in a couple of lines. PS I think I'm one of those base boards ;)

Although, I guess I've always thought of myself as more of a Tinker Toy than a Lego - alone, I'm nothing but a stick, but together with other Tinker Toy parts I can be part of an engineering masterpiece, capable of amazing things...
Same idea, different toys. Now, I wonder where Lincoln Logs and Erector sets fit in........

I love this! I'm definitely a small lego. I'm a very friendly person, however, I only have a few close friends. It use to bother me that my sister had tons of friends and I only had a few close friends. Now that I'm older I'm completely satisfied and thankful for friendships I hold so close.
What a fantastic way to think of ourselves. We are who we are and we're perfect that way!
