Signing up takes a few minutes--and the actual cheek swabs are even faster. I got my packet in the mail this weekend, and my swabs will go back out in the mail today.

I was glad to see your post the first time. It is something that I always thought I would do. However, after checking their web site I learned that I can not be a bone marrow donor. I have too many of the at risk ailments. But I am glad to know now. And having it fresh in my mind, I am more likely to pass the info onto other people.

I just got my kit in today and will have it on it's way back tomorrow. My husband looked at me kinda wierd but I just calmly explained that if my son was sick and needed morrow someone out there had darned better be donating it to save his life so if I expect others to do it then I should too! I mean kinda silly not to if it could save someone elses baby!
What a great savings. I hope they get a lot of people to register. I have been on the registry for a few years now. The President of my husbands company sister needed a bone marrow transplant so he held a drive and paid for everyone in the company and their spouses to sign up for the registry if they were interested. His sister did fianlly get a transplant and last I heard was doing well, what a great gift!
Trudy--I'm sorry you didn't qualify but I agree--it's great that it's in your mind and you can talk to others about it!

caryn--What a cool thing for the company president to do! And I'm so glad the sister did well after the transplant. We know someone who got one some time ago and did not make it. :( But I want as many people as possible to have the chance to get transplants even though they don't always make it.
