Flame's fun day

At naptime and bedtime, I tell Chickie a story about Flame, a fictional orange bear.  Sometimes she even tells the story for me.  Stories about Flame are usually actually stories about Chickie.  By talking about what Flame did all day, we can review how Chickie's day went.

Last night, I said, "There was once a bear named Flame."  I looked at Chickie.  "What did he do?"

The little wheels in Chickie's head began turning as she mentally reviewed her day.  "He went to the library!" she said.

"Oh, how fun," I said with a smile. "What else did Flame do?"

"He went to CBS [CVS Pharmacy] and got pawish [polish] for his toes!"

I started to say somehing about that being fun, but Chickie interrupted excitedly.

"And his fingers!" she added.

"Wow," I said. "It sounds like Flame had a great day."

Chickie smiled and completed the story.

"I had a great day too!"

Mama to a diva--It was Chickie's first time--she was so excited!

Grammy--Chickie picked out the color herself. She said something very cute before bed, too: "I don't want to wear socks to bed. I only want to wear pawish." :)

Adorable. And I love the whole concept of Flame. So tricky and even more useful since she understands and accepts it.

Love the mani/pedi! I can't wait until Avery's old enough for that!

What a great way to talk about Chickie's day! Very clever, Mommy.

And I'm all about nail polish, so I love the nails!

So cute!!! Did you use a quick-drying polish? Any tricks to painting a 3-yr-old's nails without getting the polish everywhere? I'm sure Abby would love the end result, but it sounds like it would be so messy!

Becki--If strangers hear them talking about going to "CBS" they'll think we have TV stars as kids.

Call Me Cate--Flame has been a great tool! And cool because he didn't come out of a parenting handbook somewhere; he just sort of "happened."

Dad--It really was an incredibly sweet moment.

Forever Folding Laundry--It was Chickie's first one, and it was really exciting and adorable!

Sandra--You know, I can't wear nail polish! It does funky things to my nails. So Chickie is totally fascinated when she sees someone with "pawish."

Kara--Actually it wasn't quick-drying; I just got the cheapo 99 cent polish. I turned on a movie she hadn't seen--got "Curious George" from the library--and just showed her how to hold her fingers still. She was really into the movie and she didn't smear--better than I used to do when I painted my nails!

Our Scoop--Thanks! She looks so cute with her pink nails!
