Zoodle's new shoes

I love soft-soled baby shoes. But I'm not willing to spend $40 or so on Robeez brand shoes, cute as they are. So I found a free pattern online at Tacky Living, grabbed some faux suede and denim (the same I've used in decorating Zoodle's nursery), and got to work.

(I love me some chubby baby ankles!)

I used faux suede for the body of the shoe and denim for the bottom. I'm hoping the texture of the denim will keep it from becoming too slippery.

While this project was fun, it took quite awhile. I finished it and thought, "There's no way I'm doing this again." It's easy to find leather, soft-soled baby shoes that aren't name brand for under $20 on Etsy or Ebay.

Of course, I've seen some pictures of corduroy ones that are just adorable. It wouldn't be that hard to make another pair...or two.

Fantastic! Fabulous!

Just by seeing this gave me a happy smile. You saved money and gave him quality shoes with sentimental value. Very neat!

I admire you for being a beautiful mother to your children.

GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY! P.U.S.H.

iLoveYou all!

I LOVE his legs! So adorable!

Baby legs are WAY too cute.

We also love soft soled shoes!! I have been known to buy Robeez- but only once. After that, I switched to the $12 version from Target. Oodles of cute styles and way more affordable.

I have no talent for even considering making my own! Nicely done!

Great job. They are adorable, both the shoes and the chubby ankles. If you do find that they are slippery you can get a tube of fabric paint and apply on the bottom to make them non-slip. They also sell something called 'GRIPPIES" that are clear and iron on.

I see someone already suggested the puffy fabric paint. Super cute!

Count me in as a fan of those little legs. Is he good about keeping them on his feet?

OMG those are just too cute! I looked at the picture gallery and your right the corduroy ones are just too adorable - they also had one there with little helicoptors on them that I love - even though I don't have a kid in soft shoes I almost feel compelled to make them LOL!

Go you for being all crafty!

First of all...the shoes look fantastic! Great job!

And I find it funny that I've made two pairs of similar baby shoes for other people as gifts and never gave thought to making them for Peanut. Reading your post was certainly a "DUH!" moment for me (complete with forehead smacking). :)

I second the Target knockoff Robeez although the ones you made are awfully cute! If they get slippery, try marking the bottoms with puffy fabric paint. You know the kind that you use for outlining the dries raised?

~Hon~--Thank you very much!

Eternal Lizdom--The Target ones are totally cute! And there are so many other cute ones online too. Lots of great options! Zoodle had Robeez when he was tiny--they were a gift. Loved them!

Simply Heather--Ack, aren't the ankles great?

Anna--Thank you so much!

caryn--Fabric paint--FANTASTIC idea! And love the "GRIPPIES" idea; would I find that at Michaels or something?

nopinkhere--Yes, the fabric paint is such a good idea! Thanks! Good to "see" you!

Call Me Cate--Actually they stayed on beautifully, thanks to the elastic. We have some other knock-offs and they sometimes come off, but this worked great.

Tiffany--Ha! Make 'em and give 'em to someone! Congrats on post #300!

Isabella--Ha! Peanut would look cute; go for it!

LEstes65--And from someone with as much awesomosity as you have--that is a HUGE compliment! Thanks!

septembermom--Thank you so much! His legs are so great--can't he stay this size?

Steph--Great idea for the puffy paint! I like the Target knockoffs too--they are so cute!

Those are adorable Beth! You did an amazing job. I would have suggested you selling those on Etsy or Ebay but I hear ya on "never again" with some things. We made fruit bouquets once, and only once! Not as easy as I thought they would be. :)
