We've been thinking of getting a new Christmas tree...one that's pre-lit and taller than our old one. We found one we loved at Sears on the day after Thanksgiving. It looked so realistic, with the high-quality branches and the brown trunk peeking through.
But we weren't sure if we wanted to spend the money. It cost more than we'd expected, even being on sale. At home I checked online and realized the price was quite good; nice artificial nine-foot trees can be very pricey.
Later we went to a store that was having a big Christmas tree sale, and we didn't find anything we liked as much as the first one we'd seen--nothing even came close. Chickie, however, found the one she wanted to buy.
Thankfully The Engineer and I have veto power, so we left that store without a tree.
We continued to discuss our options, and finally decided we really wanted the tree, and that the price was justified, considering how many years we plan to use it. So yesterday The Engineer picked it up and assembled it.
At an early stage of the assembly, Chickie protested, "That doesn't look like a Christmas tree!"
Thankfully, once it was all put together, with the branches spread out and the lights plugged in, it looked very much like a Christmas tree, and we liked it just as much as we had in the store.
This morning, I dragged out the ornaments, and this was the first year both kids were actually pretty helpful.
The tree is beautiful. Our theme is "Toddler/Preschool Chic." This popular tree decorating theme involves plastic, wooden, and cloth ornaments on the bottom half of the tree; with breakable ornaments on the top half.
Happy December first...and Merry Christmas!

I love it!
It IS a beautiful tree! I really like that you can see the trunk part and that it's a nice brown. I agree that a good tree, that looks like you want, is worth it. We've had ours for 7 years and really like it. It was worth what we spent on it when you average it out. And, I love the way you decorated it. Smart mama!
Oh! Our tree has the same theme!!
It's lovely! We bought a new tree after Xmas last year and are kinda disappointed but have already re-homed our old tree so... we might look again after Xmas this year.
always go with your first choice in anything otherwise you'll regret it.
Pre-lit artificial trees rock! I am in the land of "real trees only" snobbery, but I adore my pre-lit tree. It lets us get right to the fun part - decorating! Your tree looks fabulous!
A very pretty tree, Beth. And how wonderful that you now have a couple of little helpers. So sweet. :)
Wow! Glad you guys went ahead and bought it anyway! Fortunately there's a massively tall house to fit it into as well!
It's lovely! Ours is fake, too. Best decision I've ever made. :)
And...I hope this doesn't sound creepy, but I dreamed last night that I brought Avery to your house for a playdate with Chickie. Random!!?! I'll call you next time we're in the Live Music Capital of the World. ;)

Your tree is lovely but I'm glad you didn't mention the actual cost!
Mike and I were in Target over the weekend looking at Christmas stuff (as we always do). We passed the tree section and could not believe the SALE prices of their trees....between $150 and $350???? For a tree?? From Target??Yikes! I'm just glad our tree is good for another few years (I hope!!)
I must warn my daughter to stay away from Costco if Maddie is along! A hot pink Christmas Tree would fit right in with her hot pink and purple bedroom!! I think Chickie would love it! LOL!!
