It's pretty easy. All you have to do is waste my time by writing spam comments and posting them on my blogs. Whether the spam contains links to pornographic websites, has to do with enlarging one's *ahem* manhood, or is of the less offensive variety (fake Tiffany jewelry), you can rest assured knowing that if you've posted it, I'm getting riled up, spending my time deleting every single spam comment.
Of course, you're not the ones leaving those comments! The actual readers of this blog are awesome. Unfortunately, you're affected by the spammers. I've gotten so tired of increased spam comments recently, that I've had to turn on comment moderation. So your comments won't show up immediately; I'll have to approve them first.
But here's the good news (and it's really good news!) Blogger is starting to filter spam comments! Hip hip hooray! Overall I've been happy with Blogger, but I've learned that WordPress has some fantastic ways to prevent spam, and I've been disappointed that Blogger has been so lacking in that area. It's made me jealous of my blogger friends who use WordPress (but not jealous enough to make the switch.) I'm thrilled that Blogger is changing their ways!
The spam filtering is being rolled out gradually, and my blogs haven't received that capability yet. But when they do, I bet I'll be able to remove comment moderation. Easy commenting without spam? That's a way to make C. Beth happy!

Wordpress does have some pretty awesome features. I use it for every blog EXCEPT Show My Face. One option I've enabled in WP that seems to catch a majority of spam is every comment with more than 1 link is sent for moderation. You can also apply similar rules based on user names, IP, keywords... Their comment moderation is pretty great so I'm interested to see what Blogger puts together.
I'm not a big fan of spam either but I've found that if you fry it up with a little yellow mustard, it's not so bad. (Does this count as a spam comment now?)
I had this problem a while ago, and I moderated for a few weeks and when I turned the moderation off, they stopped coming. Hope the same works for you!
Spamming is sooo annoying! I never seem to get spammed on my personal blog but for some reason I keep getting spammed in Chinese on my classroom blog! I don't know what they are saying but I have a feeling it's not good!
I'm amazed you get so much spam. I have yet to receive any.
I will NEVER understand why there are so many people in this world whose greatest thrill is to spoil something that the rest of us really like!!
Sorry about the spammers...they suck.
Sorry you're getting a bunch of spam!! I am glad that Blogger is implementing better controls though. That's awesome!
You know I'm not very saavy when it comes to this blogging stuff, and that's probably the reason I'll never leave Wordpress. They really have taken care of me. I've only had a few spam comments, but the two I remember most are the ones that were filthy language. When I received each of them (probably from the same person because they were only a couple days apart), I immediately forwarded them to Wordpress Support, and I never heard from the pervert again. I like to picture my buddies at Wordpress sending some "enforcers" out to "talk" to the offender. But whatever they did, it worked. :)
Sorry about the spam, I know when I have 'email follow-up comments' sent to me, I receive those spam messages as well, so it doesn't affect just the blog writers, but their readers as well. I hope bloggers spam settings will help you out greatly!
Well, I used to enable comment moderation when I realized that barely anyone comments on my posts anyway, so I'm rather safe without it! I have comments e-mailed to my e-mail so that I can always stay updated when people DO comment, and do something about the times when it's machines commenting about *interesting things*. Advertising can be scary these days...
Hmm I don't get any spam mostly because I don't get many comments but I hope that Blogger helps you out soon!
