Late party

Tomorrow is Chickie's fifth birthday!

We won't be having the party until later, though--probably February. I really think that having a late party is such a great way to spread out the festivities. That way Chickie doesn't just feel special on ONE day. She feels special on her birthday, then has a few weeks of fun anticipation before the party, then has one more super-special day to share with her friends.

It doesn't have anything to do with the busy holidays and my procrastination. No way. It's purely to a way to extend the celebration.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

  1. Hi Beth,
Today is Marisa's birthday and we'll have a little party with just the 5 of us tonight, but we're also planning to have a bigger party in a couple of weeks. So I know what you're talking about! Who said procrastination???

  2. I think that's a fabulous story, just be sure to stick to it! Plus, then you can totally deny you have a five yo for another month!

  3. What a big girl - happy birthday to her! Time flies by way too fast, don't you think!?!
I love your later-party-story! Totally! Gives you more time to prepare a fabulous party, and she can enjoy herself twice.... it's all about the one day that she, and any of us, has to herself!!! I love my own birthday and spreading out celebrations is alot of fun!

  4. Love it! Happy Birthday to Chickie! The Manimal turns five a week from Saturday. How is it possible that kindergarten is just on the horizon?

  5. Abby's birthday was yesterday, and we did a family party with grandparents last weekend and are having a huge princess party for her friends this weekend. Coming right after the holidays, it's definitely a tad much!! Clearly, we were not thinking through the birthday party ramifications of a January baby when we got pregnant in April 2005 ;-)

  8. I'm all about extending the celebrations. My birthday is in September but I was going through a lot of crazy stuff so I postponed my party until October, and had a fantastic time. :)

    Have an Extraordinary Day!

  9. What a great idea to postpone the party! We just ran into the fact that we can't get room for a gymnastics party till February...maybe we will move the party date! Thanks for the idea and happy almost 5 to Chickie!
