A to Z...a Thanksgiving giveaway contest

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I'd like to play a little game, one we played around the Thanksgiving table when I was a kid. At the end of this post I'll name something starting with an "A" that I'm thankful for. If you're the first to comment, tell us something you're thankful for that starts with an "B." Second comment, something starting with a "C." (I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to figure out the remaining 23 steps!)

Feel free to post as many times as you'd like, but don't post twice in a row. Traffic might be low today since it's a holiday. Can we get to "Z" before the day is through? Let's try!

If you cross-post and more than one person uses the same letter, no problem--it's a good day to be extra-thankful.

And to sweeten the deal...whoever completes our alphabet with "Z" will get some yummy peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies in the mail. Remember, no posting twice in a row. I'll plan to come on and post a "Y" comment so that anyone is free to post "Z."

Let's get started!

A: I'm thankful for...

  38. Well, looks like Becki won, by a matter of seconds.

Which means Donal's not very thankful for her right now.

Or maybe he is...after all, I bet she'll share the cookies! Becki, I'll get them to you soon!

Thanks everyone for playing! This was fun! Anyone coming into the game late? Feel free to post whatever random thankful comments you'd like.

  43. I don't ever comment... But I lurk and secretly read everything here.

    I'm thankful for:
    Absolutely everything in the world,
    Bear hugs,
    Comfortable blankets on lazy days,
Double-dipping chips in the salsa when no one is looking,
Elephant rides at RenFest, even though they are really short and really expensive,
Family, even when it gets tough,
Gumball machines because they're so fun even though I never eat the gum,
Hippies I see in the streets and who tell me "peace out" whenever I walk in front of them,
I - I couldn't write in the first person without it,
Juicy oranges, the kind that you can eat slices and slices of on hot summer days,
Kiwi fruits, because I haven't had one in a really long time and you can pretend to have funny green eyes with half a kiwi fruit,
funny Lawn ornaments, especially the 2000lbs concrete gorilla in my neighbor's yard,
    good Memories,
Numb fingers wrapped around a mug of hot chocolate,
    Othold, my cactus,
    People in general,
Questing knights who sweep me off my feet,
Roundabouts, otherwise I'd never get to where I'm going because I keep missing exits on the highway,
Sleep, I can't get enough of it,
Turkey, even when there's a lot of it to eat,
Underpants, you can't ever be too thankful for them,
Very Yummy chocolate chip cookies my brother and sister baked for me,
Wagner, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, and Shostakovich for their music,
X^2 - Chi-squared tests, how could I statisticize anything without them?
Y chromosomes and their owners, sometimes they're annoying, but you can't live without 'em!
Zip codes, they get my letters places even when I misspell the city.

And this blog, because reading it makes me happy!

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

  45. So, you are through the alphabet and I'm just going to mess it all up by telling you what I am thankful for ... not associated with any particular letter.

I am thankful for you and the fact that somehow, over the past two years we've developed a great friendship through this crazy thing called the internet!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Lyndsay--Oh, I am so thankful to you too! I really appreciate you writing that.

brare-eyed sun--Everyone tells me I should really do Facebook--I just can't handle one more Internet addiction. :)
