I am not a runner, but have a pair of Vibram Five Fingers, which I use for walking the dog and for hiking. I love that the Vibrams protect your feet on rocky hiking trails, but how you can still feel the earth under you. I feel more stable hiking with them and not big, clunky hiking shoes, as I can feel what is under my feet and adjust my steps accordingly. Plus, I feel more connected to my surroundings, somehow.

I know that when you are wearing Vibrams you are not technically bare foot, but it does feel like the next best thing. Good luck with your barefoot running!tanyahttp://www.tanyamoakler.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4774778021065181469.post-79085942297572968602010-08-04T14:50:25.590-05:002010-08-04T14:50:25.590-05:00I came across the website for my local barefoot ru...I came across the website for my local barefoot running society and they will be out at a race I'm running in a couple weeks, a trail race. I'll snag some pictures for you as they get their toesies in the mud :)Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07409619466840057408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4774778021065181469.post-9999756137612088592010-08-04T08:33:46.855-05:002010-08-04T08:33:46.855-05:00Even though I am definitely a shoe runner, for the...Even though I am definitely a shoe runner, for the simple reason of not liking to be dirty!, I am glad that you got this milestone. And 26 miles is alot - I didn't realize that you had run that much already! Wow. And congratulations.SurvivorBlessinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10779318508047517634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4774778021065181469.post-51206726515087188992010-08-04T07:23:34.215-05:002010-08-04T07:23:34.215-05:00Love the PS. I do drills barefoot and run in the new form in my lower padded, much lighter weight shoes. Donated my old shoes- they made me tired just to look at them and how heavy they were!!

It is definitely a learning curve to change your running form- barefoot or not. I'm not having knee and IT band issues that I had in June. But I do get soreness. The first 2 weeks, the soreness lasted for DAYS. Now... I'm recovered fully within a few hours or less of the workout. And it's arches, a different place in my lower legs- new muscles that need building, strengthening.

Good for you!!!Eternal Lizdomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12436844959718198383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4774778021065181469.post-20253217957720737892010-08-04T07:20:33.120-05:002010-08-04T07:20:33.120-05:00I had wondered how your feet were with the barefoo...I had wondered how your feet were with the barefoot running. Glad to know they are holding up well to the new work out they are getting. Also, very awesome that those feet were ready to run after an escapee little boy! I am so glad he was found quickly and safe. That must have been really scary for you and your husband.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17616743301445727869noreply@blogger.com
