Rediscovering chai

I was at Starbucks recently and heard someone order a soy chai latte. Mmm, I thought to myself, I haven't had one of those in a long time.

When I was introduced to chai several years ago, I loved it. Those spices--cinnamon, nutmeg, whatever it is they use--are comforting and delicious. With sweet vanilla soy milk...mmm. I was in love.

Then I just drank too much of it, and got tired of it. So it had been a few years since I'd had one. Until today. I gave the Starbucks barista my cup (remember, you get a discount for bringing your own!) and ordered a grande soy chai latte.

It was good. The flavor was what I'd remembered, but it was also fresh and delicious again. I've rediscovered chai.

What have you enjoyed in the past that you'd like to rediscover now? It may be a drink or it may be a hobby or it may be a friend. It's worth thinking about, isn't it?

I discovered Chai about five years ago. I don't remember what made me buy it, but I bought a can of Celestial Seasonings Chai. It was an instant (I feel you purists cringing), but I really loved it, and so did guests. But then I went back to re-stock my supply and couldn't find it! I haven't seen it since. Apparently I was one of only a few who were willing to give an instant chai a try. I mourn the loss of that mix and wish I could enjoy it again.

I LOVE chai! I first discovered it about 10 years ago in college when a friend insisted I try it in a coffee shop...you know one of those weird coffee shops that host drum circles and serve wheat grass juice. While it wasn't my scene, I fell in love with chai and it has been my drink of choice ever since.

I love chai!!!

I'm not sure that I've rediscovered anything very recently... last year, I reconnected with my passion for music and that has been life building and changing! I've joined the music team at church and I have the honor of helping to lead worship every Sunday... but more than that, I've developed an amazing, rooted, connected support system at church.

Sounds yummy! And so toasty warm as I'm watching the snow fall outside my window.

I love the Vanilla Chai from Dunkin' Donuts. Delicious!

I've been drinking chai for over 10 years now. A friend was on a temporary duty assignment in the Army and was sent to the Seattle area. She came back raving about it. I fell in love and have never looked back. That's saying a lot for this hardcore sweet tea drinker from South Mississippi! I'm a regular at Starbucks where I order a Venti 6 pump Chai Latte. A regular venti comes with 5 pumps, I like that 1 extra for more intense flavor.

Hey some of us purists are only pure in the sense that it be homemade =P lol. Actually the mix isnt half bad, but if you want it to be better than even the stuff you can buy:

I love Chai too, but there I have to say I found a store out here that just puts Starbucks to shame! If you're ever in Colorado you'll have to try it! It's just a Chai store, that's what they specialize in and it is oh-so-delicious! They have all these cute phrases on the wall about chai, like "if at first you don't succeed, chai chai again", things like that. So cute!
